Up Your Brand Game With Athluxury

According to Merriam-Webster, athleisure is defined as “casual clothing designed to be worn both for exercising and for general use.”  It represents the general dressing down across our culture, with high fashion brands turning sweats and tees into big ticket items, and retailers selling more performance apparel than ever before.

Winter Staple Heats Up Brand Visibility

Play The Brand Card

pc-p100Playing cards are believed to have originated in China and then spread to India and Persia.  They arrived in Europe in the early 14th century, and were finally introduced to America through explorers and soldiers. Small in size and simple in design, playing cards have gone through centuries of artistic change to evolve into one of the most popular gifts for any gender or age.

There are countless numbers of games that can be played using the same deck of playing cards, so nearly everyone has a favorite game.  Old Maid and Go Fish for the younger set; Bridge and Poker for the adults; Solitaire for those looking for down-time that doesn’t involve turning on the TV.  No wonder so many companies are using this cost-effective giveaway to get their brand message in the hands of their audience!

What Is A Logo Merchandise Program?

Most corporate marketing departments recognize the need for branded merchandise and the value it brings as an important part of every campaign.  Product giveaways with a well-executed logo decoration help to build brand awareness and stronger relationships with the audience.  And when those products are viewed as part of the larger marketing plan; considered and discussed at the same time the team is outlining the campaign goals; and delivered in tandem with an event or a specific initiative, that’s when the program is born.

Logo merchandise programs vary in size, scope and budget.  A program for a company that has an ongoing need for easy access and ready availability of product in quantities as low as one piece would normally be managed as an on-line company store.  However, that company may  also have a need for a workplace safety program that is separate from the company store, and a tradeshow/event program that allows for drop-shipping larger quantities of giveaways directly to the event site, without depleting the stock in the fulfillment program.  One logo merchandise program is seldom enough for these larger companies.

Brands Can Now Take Flight!

droneIt was only a matter of time!  With all the press given to drones and their place in our world, we were bound to see corporate logos flying up, up and away on these vastly popular remote controlled unmanned aerial vehicles.

Of course, with your logo attached, it’s best that the rockets and cameras are not included – and the promotional variety of drone will never have the ability to get in the way of passenger aircraft or crash into the top floor of an office building.  But, most would argue, that’s a good thing!

We could think of these new tech items as toys – almost like the modern-day kite – or an advertising medium, or even a creative team-building tool for friendly competition between company departments.  But regardless of the reason for adding a logo and sending the drone off to perform aerial flips, it’s a serious contender for making the top of the list for the hottest new item to promote your business.

Spice Up Your Brand This Holiday Season

rubIn a season of food, family and fun, gourmet spice rubs, salt collections and BBQ sauces make perfect holiday gifts for employees, customers and new prospects.  These gifts are one-size-fits-all, easy to share and can be found in price points to fit every budget.

Besides the obvious advantage of giving a gift that can be brought home and enjoyed with family, there are a few less conspicuous reasons to choose a spicy giveaway.

speaekr“Where words fail, music speaks”  Hans Christian Andersen   And when the music is speaking, bluetooth speakers are increasingly the device of choice for our mobile music-loving society.  The convenience of wireless is quickly overtaking tabletop docking devices as the preferred way to listen to music.   The sales growth of smartphones and tablets fuels this interest, as does the increase in listening to music on those smartphones rather than using the standard MP3 player for on-the-go music playback.

In the office, on vacation, or just in the backyard, bluetooth speakers have become today’s answer to the battery-powered boombox of yesteryear.  And at this time of year, as corporate buyers consider appropriate gift options for employees and high level customers, this gender-neutral, broad-audience gift should be at the top of the list.

When it comes to size, shape and colors, the options are nearly endless.  Most are small and compact to fit into the active lifestyles of the people that want to take their music with them.  Some styles are sleek and modern – others are colorful and fun.  Microphones are included with some models for hands-free calling, and others include FM radio capability.  And the price points vary as much as the styles – nearly every budget can accommodate one of these speaker options.

Of course, all styles worth considering offer the ability to add the corporate logo so your company’s brand is always in front of the customer when their favorite tunes are playing.  When the music is speaking, be sure your company message is being heard!

Custom Socks Rock

socksA basic rule of dress for men is the color of the sock should be the same as the color of trouser.  But that’s boring!  Much like the bold neckties that allowed men to reveal their inner wild side, today’s trendy socks offer business people a way to stand out even when wearing a classic pair of pants.  Not your granddad’s boring dress socks, or your mom’s uniform knee-highs, colorful socks with bold colors and creative designs have gained a substantial following and have become a growth industry.

Sock sales rose 5.6% to $4.22 billion for the 12-month period ended April 2013, according to NPD Group.  And much of that growth is coming from specialty shops that offer colorful, patterned styles.

The casual workplace, and current fashion trends for both men and women, have driven the interest in wild socks.  People feel freer to express themselves, and there are no signs that the trend is slowing down.  So, in the interest of building brand awareness, why not join the fun and give bright, colorful socks as a client giveaway.

Of course, “bright” socks can mean a lot of things: bold solid colors, classic patterns like argyle and paisley, on up to things that are bordering on novelty items.   Logos can be added to an existing design, or an entirely new design can be created using the brand colors and corporate logo.  At first glance people may think the wearer is just dressing with a little individual flare, but when those legs are crossed, the logo becomes clear and the brand has earned another impression.

Sports teams, fraternities, tech companies and business groups are being gifted customized socks for big events and celebrations.  Great for creating excitement for marketing campaigns, team-building or a new product launch, custom socks are perfect giveaways for any industry.   Because, really?  who needs another pair of black dress socks?!

Buy Into A Fun Campaign, Not Just A Fun Giveaway

5th_Got Ugly Revised_indd @ 122%A promotional giveaway with a corporate logo always reflects the brand’s print identity, but is the campaign it’s tied to something the audience perceives as engaging, worthwhile, and, possibly even fun?!  Those campaigns are intended to increase sales, community awareness, employee productivity or client appreciation, among other things.  But do the promotional products carry the message in a way that entices the recipient to respond?

Consider the idea of building a new internal corporate message with targeted products selected to support the theme.  Those products, chosen to excite and encourage specific behavior, could be distributed once every quarter for 12 months in order to keep the audience engaged.

For instance, with continual focus on rising healthcare costs, a corporate HR department may choose to launch an employee wellness initiative.  A path to employee buy-in could include:

  • Launch the campaign at the end of the calendar year when many healthcare programs roll over.  Every employee receives a healthy eating calendar with recipes and make-it-healthy tips featured each month.
  • 3 months later, when spring is approaching, give every employee a new pair of custom imprinted shoelaces inserted into a logo color zip bag with a printed reminder of the benefits of walking at least 20 minutes every day.
  • In July, with summer activities in full swing, everyone receives a CamelBak™ sport bottle imprinted with the corporate logo (yes, it should be a bottle brand everyone recognizes and appreciates) with sun screen, SPF lip balm and insect repellent spray pen inserted inside, along with the reinforced printed message of healthy habits like staying hydrated.

Giveaways, regardless of how high or low the cost, should always be given with the intention of sending a positive message, even if the message is strictly to reinforce the corporate brand.  And if that item is tied into a broader feel-good campaign that is meant to influence behavior and incent actions, all the better.  When exploring your promotional merchandise options, remember, if you think it’s fun, it’s likely the recipient will agree!
